How Far In Advance Should We Start Planning Our Walt Disney World Vacation?

It really is never too early to start planning a Walt Disney World trip – it’s not unusual for people contact me two years out.  The sooner we start planning, the better prepared you will be.

We can start talking about and planning your trip at any time, but we might not be able to actually book the reservation right away.

Today I can book Walt Disney World packages through the end of the year – December 31, 2020.

Walt Disney World usually releases package prices in summer for the upcoming year.  For example, I should be able to start booking reservations for all of 2021 in early this summer.

On the wall in my office is a white board where I keep a list of those future travelers and as soon as the next year’s packages (room + tickets) are released the planning and booking for their trips goes into high gear.

(Disney Cruise Line has a little bigger window – I can book Disney Cruise Line through May of 2021)

Whenever possible, the optimum situation is to start planning your vacation and have it booked at least 7 or 8 months out because of dining.  I can start making your dining reservations 180 days prior to your arrival (That’s 180 days – not six months).  Walt Disney World’s most popular restaurants and experiences fill up very fast so being ready to go at the 180-day mark gives us the best chance to get all the reservations you want at the times you want.

Keep in mind that if a new Walt Disney World offer is released after we book your trip, I work to get any available discount applied to your package.

Of course, 7 or 8 months isn’t always possible and that’s OK.  I work with families every day on shorter notice – I’ve done them as short as four days out – and we can still get plenty of reservations.

If you would like to be on my future travelers list (or if you want to go next week) just let me know.
