Margaret Takes A Minnie Van at Walt Disney WorldA few months ago, I posted my Top 5 Ways To Splurge at Walt Disney World, but quickly realized my list was a lot longer than that. Here are five more ways I like to ‘plus’ my Walt Disney World vacations.

(And no, this isn’t the last one of these lists)

Take A Backstage Tour

Walt Disney World offers numerous tours for those guests that want to learn a little bit more about the magic it how it happens.  Some tours are in-depth, behind the scenes ones that go places theme park guests aren’t usually allowed.  Other tours are designed for family’s with younger kids and just explore inside the theme parks.

Backstage tours are offered at the Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Animal Kingdom.

You can learn more about tours at the Magic Kingdom in my blog post here: http://bit.ly/MKBackstageTours

Wild Africa Trek

There are lots of ways to experience the wildlife at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but the Wild Africa Trek is at the top of the list.

Wild Africa Trek is a privately guided VIP experience that goes right out on the savanna and up close with the animals.

Walk along a grassland path, cross a rope bridge and ride in a rugged safari vehicle over an open savanna—with a chance to view African creatures including towering giraffes, powerful rhinos, hippos and crocodiles.

Along your journey, your knowledgeable guide will share insights about the majestic animals you’re viewing as well as the general operation of Disney’s Animal Kingdom park and details about the park’s dedication to animal conservation.

Along the way you’ll stop for some African-inspired snacks while looking out over the savanna.

There is also a photographer with your group to capture lots of special photos.

I have done the Wild Africa Trek and love it!

Attend A Hard Ticket Event

At Walt Disney World a ‘hard ticket event’ is an event in the parks that takes place outside normal operating hours.  Hard ticket events feature smaller crowds, depending on the event there may be special activities (like trick-or-treating at Halloween), special food, special character greetings, special fireworks and more.

Some hard ticket events include Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Disney After Hours and Disney Early Morning Magic.

Purchase Memory Maker

The Memory Maker photo package is one of my favorite Walt Disney World add-ons.  For $169 you get an unlimited number of photo and video downloads that are taken at locations all over Walt Disney World.

Everywhere you look in the parks you’ll see Disney PhotoPass photographers.  With Memory Maker you just walk up, get your photo made, the photographer will tap your Magic Band and boom, you’ve got your photos on your My Disney Experience account. No fumbling with your camera and everybody is in the shot.

Memory Maker includes photos at character dining locations, any on-ride photos or videos.  There is no limit to how many pictures you can get, and the photos come with a release so you can use the pictures for thing like Christmas cards.

Use the Minnie Van Service

If we’re in a hurry to get somewhere at Walt Disney World, if we want to travel from one resort to another, or if we just want to do something special, we’ll use the Minnie Van service.

The Minnie Van service is an on-property car service – sort of like Uber or Lyft (it actually works through the Lyft app) – that is operated by Walt Disney World and staffed with some the best cast members you’ll ever meet.

You can take a Minnie Van to resorts, theme parks and Disney Springs.  If you really want to splurge you can use the Minnie Van service for airport and Port Canaveral transfers.
